Revealed: familiar names on Ofsted’s list of individuals offering subject-by-subject inspection guidance

Ofsted has disclosed the names of 42 people who are advising it on subject-specific inspection work, in details - published for the first time here - which seem likely to further the debate on what is happening behind the scenes at the inspectorate.

Ofsted sent details to this website of five “subject-specific” advisory groups it has set up, after I asked for information about them. It told me that the lists of members have not been published before.

The groups cover English, maths, history, modern foreign languages (MFL) and science, with membership numbers (see full list below) ranging from six for history and MFL to 17 for maths. All feature a Her Majesty’s Inspector as the first-named person.

The inspectorate said the groups’ work is feeding into “supporting inspection” under Ofsted’s new framework. This is planned to launch in September, with a much greater emphasis on the curriculum.
