Revealed: Conservatives have failed to meet a clear majority of the pledges on schools in their 2017 election manifesto

Verdict: This was one of the first manifesto pledges to go, as confirmed by Nick Gibb, the schools minister, in July 2017. Gibb reportedly told the Daily Telegraph that there had not been “widespread support” for the manifesto pledge, but denied the change was connected to the Tories’ loss of their majority.
