Large academy chains warn again about funding pressures

Some of England’s largest multi-academy trusts are warning of continued pressures on their budgets, with uncertainty over the details of a long-delayed “National Funding Formula” a common concern.
Annual 2017-18 accounts for academy trusts – which must be published by the end of this month – are starting to appear, with statements about tight finances a recurrent theme in those of some of the largest organisations, looked at by Education Uncovered.
The statements, from these organisations which are on the front line of the government’s schools reforms, appear to be more bad news for ministers, who have sought continually to play down stories about budget pressures across the English state education system.
The detail
Perhaps the most striking comment about finances, among accounts seen so far by me, appeared in the report accompanying E-ACT’s annual accounts.
