Government considered options over struggling title school of major multi-academy trust

The future of the flagship school of England’s eighth-largest academy trust has been up in the air this summer, following its Ofsted-inadequate verdict from inspectors.
The regional “Headteacher Board” overseeing Kemnal Technology College in Sidcup in Kent discussed options seemingly including transferring the academy to another trust, meeting minutes have disclosed.
The ability of the trust – the Kemnal Academies Trust or TKAT – which controls it to continue to “support the school” was also questioned at the meeting, in July, although another option was it putting more money into the academy.
This week Education Uncovered asked TKAT whether there was any chance of the school moving to another trust. The chain did not answer the question directly. But it did respond that it had submitted an action plan to Ofsted and that it was “working in close partnership with the DfE to ensure that Kemnal Technology College rapidly returns to being a good school”.
