Chair of board at under-pressure Mossbourne Federation stands down

The seven-school “tough love” academy chain has been under intense scrutiny since a safeguarding review made serious criticisms of behaviour management practice at one of its schools

 

The long-serving chair of trustees at an academy chain which has been at the centre of controversy over its behaviour management policies has stood down, Education Uncovered can reveal.

Henry Colthurst, who has served as board chair at the Mossbourne Federation since at least 2016, resigned as a trustee on Monday this week, a newly-filed document at Companies House shows.

The development appears to signal the first significant impact, in terms of the leadership of the trust, since a damning safeguarding report was published before Christmas on practice at Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy (MVPA) in Hackney, East London.
