Academy puts in bid to join 14-school chain – without telling parents

Mystery also surrounds missing headteacher at Aylesford School, Warwick, who has not been seen there for months.

 

A single academy trust is facing serious questions about its openness with parents, after this website learned that it had put in an official bid to the government to join a chain of schools without telling its community, and with both its headteacher and head of primary said not to have been seen in their posts for weeks.

In a development which seems to shine a fresh spotlight on the behind-the-scenes nature of academy decision-making, Aylesford School in Warwick was as of last month in line to join Stowe Valley multi-academy trust, without the community having been told.

Remarkably, the school still did not respond to questions about the issue, when asked about it by Education Uncovered, despite the proposal appearing on a meeting agenda which is in the public domain.
