Selection of DfE loyalist Jo Saxton as government’s choice for Ofqual post invites questions about experience, independence

Is Jo Saxton really the best-qualified person for the key national post of chair of the exams regulator Ofqual?

It seems reasonable to ask this question, given the close connections that Saxton has had with government over recent years, the fact that her appointment has been put forward by Gavin Williamson, the Education Secretary, and particularly because of the contrast of her cv with previous incumbents.
