A clear-out of half the board at one of England’s most troubled multi-academy trusts suggests meaningful strategic change may finally be in the offing – but the departures currently leave only five trustees to steer this ship through what appear to be exceptionally choppy waters.
The 25-school St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust (SRSCMAT) was England’s most indebted academy chain as of 2024-25, when trust-by-trust data was last published by the DfE, with accumulated arrears of approaching £10 million.
